Proviron – The same by any other name

Mesterolone is a drug that goes by many names, some of the names that Proviron has been seen going by are, Mestilon tabs, Restore Tabs, and Provironum Tabs.

Proviron is the brand name for the oral steroid Mesterolone. Mesterolone is an Oral DHT based steroid rather similar to it’s similarly named cousin, the ever popular Masteron. Proviron is an oral steroid, with an action very similar to the legendary steroid, primobolan.

On Proviron’s Activity

Like most other DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) based steroids including Parabolan, Proviron is a strong androgen that does not aromatize into estrogen. This property makes Proviron a very attractive component to a bodybuilding steroid cycle.

Despite it’s strong Androgenic Traits, Proviron is still only weakly anabolic, and used on it’s own it would produce very little (if any) muscle building results. It’s androgenic weakness is not a reason to not include it in a cycle however, there are so many other benefits provided by Proviron that make it an almost indispensable part of any bodybuilder’s arsenal.

Why Athletes Use Proviron

Proviron’s primary draw is that it helps reduce estrogenic side effects caused by aromatization, and it also aids the efficiency of steroids it is used alongside by keeping the enzymes that break down anabolic steroids busy.

Proviron is typically prescribed as both an anti-aging drug as well as to combat issues caused by low testosterone levels. However, due to Proviron not being FDA approved, you cannot recieve a prescription for Mesterolone in the united states. It is important to remember that as a schedule 3 controlled substance, posession in the united states is a felony.

A Safe Oral Anabolic?

Proviron belongs to a very exclusive group of “safe” oral anabolics, because proviron is not c17-alpha alkylated it is not as liver toxic as most other oral steroids. In this respect, proviron is very similar to primobolan, In fact, Proviron utilizes the same 1-methylation which Primobolan posesses. Methylated steroids do get broken down slower than steroids that aren’t alkylated, but not as slowly as a steroid that has 17-alpha alkylation. The slowed down metabolic breakdown allows enough mesterolone to enter the blood stream, but the overall bioavailability is lower than a 17-alpha alkylation.

Uses of Proviron

Proviron is typically used to enhance the effectiveness of other, more anabolic, steroids as well as to reduce the potential for side effects. This usage owes itself to proviron’s ability to act as an anti-aromatase, preventing/slowing the conversion of steroids into estrogen.

Another effect that allows Proviron to enhance the potency of other steroids in the stack with it is it’s affinity for plasma binding proteins like SHBG, by effectively keeping the plasma binding proteins busy while the other steroids do their thing.

Overall Impression of Proviron

All in all, Proviron has it’s uses, it’s great as an additive, both as a safety measure (nobody wants to look like bob from fight club) and as a booster to the potency of the other steroids you’re using. And also, Proviron functions rather well as a bridging steroid, when coming off a cycle it’s a great idea to start replacing more anabolic steroids with proviron as you cycle down.
